2012 RENO FUN AND SNOW TRAINS -
LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!
Don't miss out on the only true PARTY TRAIN in the WORLD!
Key Holidays, the official tour operator of the Reno Fun Train and Reno Snow Train, believes there is the possibility these special charter trains will be available just one more winter season, February - March 2012. This is due to a projected Amtrak charter equipment shortage on the West Coast. Jade Chapman, President of Key Holidays, explains, "We were so happy to run these trains, in addition to our year round Key Holidays Amtrak Tours, through the recession because everyone sure needed the escape and value that our party and sightseeing trains provided. But we do not foresee being able to run the special charter trains in 2013 unless more train cars can be supplied by Amtrak." With regards to the great anticipation of the Reno Fun Train's 50th Anniversary celebration she said, "The Fun Train is going out with a bang one year shy of the 50th and we're inviting all our old friends and new ones to take one last spin, and relive some of the epic times between here and Reno."

The Reno Fun Train began operation in 1963 when Southern Pacific Railroad and the Reno Chamber of Commerce devised a plan to not only stimulate wintertime business in Reno, but keep the Southern Pacific crews working during the off season. With this collaboration, the one and only Reno Fun Train was up and running with ex-49er football player, Don Burke, acting as host. Over the years various tour operators ran the party train. In 1993 Amtrak awarded the contract to Key Holidays of Walnut Creek, CA. Key Holidays not only reestablished the traditions of the old Reno Fun Train, such as the live dance band "Funatics" and party atmosphere, but added new features; light meals served round trip, souvenir shop, piano lounge, dance car, Elvis Tribute Artist, Sightseeing Dome Car and fun themes like Mardi Gras and Wine Tasting. The Reno Fun Train is popular with individuals, companies and groups looking for a unique travel experience without the hassle of airports and flying.
Key Holidays began running the midweek Tuesday departure Reno Snow Train in 1996 with an emphasize on the spectacular Sierra, Nevada scenery, historical route and themes, such as 50's Sock Hop, Valentines and Classic Country, appealing to Seniors and retiring Boomers. The Snow Train is for folks that can get the time off work midweek, families (children are allowed, where as on the Fun Train you have to be over 21) and retirees. The convenience, comfort and nostalgia of taking this special train to Reno makes it a wonderful getaway for Senior Centers, Church Groups and Social Clubs.
The Reno Fun Train and Reno Snow Train are the only trains in the world where you can dance, sing-along, conga line, relax and let loose all while making new friends and experiencing the romance of riding the rails over the magnificent Sierra Nevada Mountains on the way to exciting downtown Reno. Last year's additions of an Elvis Tribute Artist, available Chair Massage and Cigar Lounge (on the Fun Train) will be continued with the Richmond Amtrak Station being added as a BART connection stop in 2012. All inclusive prices start from $289 per person, double occupancy on the weekend Fun Train with departures offered on Feb. 10, 24, Mar. 2 and 9th. The midweek Snow Train starts from $245. per person, double with departures Feb. 14, 21, 28 and Mar. 6th. Fares include round trip reserved seat from the San Francisco Bay Area, two-nights hotel including all taxes & Resort Fees, entertainment and light meals aboard the train and Winner's Book of coupons good for discounted meals and shows in Reno.
